"A Hidden Gem in Homer, Alaska: Luxury, Adventure, and Unforgettable Memories at the Lighthouse Resort"

Updated: 3 hours ago

Arriving in Homer, Alaska, often described as the "Gateway to the Kachemak Bay," feels like stepping into an enchanted world at the southern tip of the state. This coastal town has become a destination in itself, not just for cruise ships that linger here longer than expected, but also for fishing boats and ferries that crisscross the Alaskan seas, painting a picture of adventure and serenity.

During our visit, we were welcomed to a luxurious yet family-oriented hideaway, just a five-minute drive from Homer’s charming city center. Nestled on a cliff overlooking the pristine Kachemak Bay and snow-capped mountain ranges, this magical retreat offers panoramic views of glaciers and awe-inspiring Alaskan landscapes. The five-star resort, lovingly crafted by Liz Garvey—who now goes by her Hebrew name Elisheva after discovering her Jewish roots during a trip to Israel—has a unique warmth that sets it apart. Liz spent several years volunteering in Israel, and her affection for the country shines through in how she warmly embraces Israeli guests.

The resort itself is a masterpiece of design. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, with elegant details that exude luxury while maintaining a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the little touches that make the difference, enhancing the experience for families and couples alike. Outside, the resort offers an array of amenities: a hot tub with a view of the mountains, an outdoor kitchen and grill for family cookouts, and a breathtaking balcony perfect for sipping your morning coffee as the sun rises over the bay.

The setting is perfect for children, with activities that will engage and delight. Liz’s own home, situated just next to the resort, features a playground and a small bunny farm, adding an extra layer of fun for the little ones. A short hike from the resort leads down to the shoreline, where you can witness the dramatic rise and fall of the third-largest tide in the world.

For the adventurous, there are kayaks and SUP boards available, perfectly suited for families, even with young children in tow. Wildlife is abundant, and we were lucky enough to spot bald eagles, cranes, owls, and moose paying visits with their young during the spring.

Our time at this stunning resort was one of the highlights of our Alaskan adventure. Whether you’re planning a family getaway or seeking the perfect spot for a romantic honeymoon, this hidden gem in Homer, Alaska, comes highly recommended.

A short drive from the resort will take you to Homer Spit, a narrow strip of land that stretches 4.5 miles into Kachemak Bay. The spit is dotted with quirky shops, restaurants, and endless opportunities for adventure, from fishing to beachcombing. We found a perfect spot to blow giant bubbles and swing under the docks, creating lasting memories.

With nightly rates ranging from $200 to $405 plus tax and fees, this penthouse and suite-style resort is a luxurious yet accessible option for travelers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan experience. Whether you're visiting for the incredible scenery or to soak in the culture of Homer, this resort promises an unforgettable stay.
